Congratulations to all of you!
32 teams and over 150 games plus!
MVP Boys Basketball Camp has become the premier Jewish Orthodox after-camp basketball program for boys entering 4th - 12th grade. This past season, MVP celebrated its third outstanding season with record breaking registration which included boys from yeshivas throughout the tri-state area. This year created many memorable moments for all the attendees that will last a very long, long time. Over 200 campers arrived for what turned out to be an exciting and informative week of Basketball.
Players enjoyed the facilities of Seneca (where MVP takes place) which are second to none as they feature 10 basketball courts, which are lit for night play, including 2 brand new MVP courts which the campers love to play on. There is an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi, as well as an outdoor pool which features the Super Seneca Slide. In addition, there is Sprinkles Ice Cream parlor on camp grounds, and an air conditioned dining room and shul. From the moment each camper stepped off the bus and received an authentic reversible MVP basketball jersey, until the busses pulled out after 5 days of Basketball 24-7, it was nonstop action. We had a great MVP professional Staff including experienced counselors and coaches that have all graduated from local yeshivas - many of whom returned from their year(s) of learning in Israel.
The Seneca staff included Division One College players, pros and former pros as well as coaches. It was exciting learning from NJ Nets # 1 draft pick Marshon Brooks and Seton Hall star Jeremy Hazell. We were privileged to be joined by Coach Cirincione, shooting specialist and scout from the Washington Wizards as well as Assistant Coach Barak from the Maccabi Haifa pro basketball team. Once again, Andy Weitzen joined us for the week as well.
One of the highlights was having NBA Hall of Famer Nate "Tiny" Archibald (one of the top 50 NBA players of all time and the only player to lead the league in scoring and assists in the same season) join us. He gave intense basketball clinics to each of the four divisions and followed that by personally signing autographed pictures (no charge!) as well as some sneakers. All these features, combined with the stellar MVP Program which includes 3 minyanim each day, 3 nutritious meals each day, late night BBQ each night for all campers, as well as leagues, clinics and skills competitions, make for a well rounded and wholesome basketball experience for Jewish Boys looking to enjoy a week of basketball. This year we added two exciting features. The first was the MVP challenge - which combines dribbling skills and endurance. The second added attraction was the All Star staff game featuring stars of both the Seneca staff and the MVP staff! The finale of MVP is quite special as the whole camp gathered in the gym where the Varsity Championship game was played, followed by the closing ceremony where over 70 trophies were presented including MVP'S from each of the four divisions.
This past season there was a waiting list so we encourage those interested for the 2012 season, to please register early to make sure they are part of the MVP Experience. You can check out the MVP website: www.senecalake.com and click on the MVP link for pics of this past season and info about our 2012 season. (Both will be posted shortly.) We are already making plans with special surprises for next season. Thanks for making it so memorable.
MVP Basketball Camp - where every player can be an MVP.
