MVP 2010 Girls basketball was an amazing experience both on and off the courts-building friendships and comradery from the moment the buses pulled up until the time they pulled out of camp.

When the girls first arrived they were greeted by Willie Worlsey (movie made about him and his teammates in Glory Road) and Mel Davis former NY Knicks- who shared their stories of hard work and perseverance. This set camp right in motion as girls were working hard to understand the game of basketball better, and more specifically their game.

The girls came from all over the east coast- bringing quite an array of talent. They were sent right to the courts, where they worked hard sweated a lot and persevered. Each day special clinics or drill stations were run by top division one athletes. Coach Larry Wingate a former Assistant Coach for St. Francis, and Coach Jason Wingate -former Manhattan College Player, and now current Assistant Coach at Manhattan, ran amazing clinics for all our basketball divisions.

During games, competition was fierce and there were many nail biting games, that weren't decided until the end of the game. The girls really raised the bar for themselves and their teammates. When they were not on the court for a game or special lesson, the girls could be found enjoying the facilities, pool hot tub ice cream pizza and more!

Our coaching staff was phenomenal, and a special thanks to them for making MVP the success that it is-both in their own basketball experience and their love for working with the kids. We had with us former yeshiva all stars, Stern College players, and our sensation Crystal McFadden, a former all star from University of Alabama-Birmingham who was found on the courts working with kids all day!

Shabbat was an amazing part of our program, as the girls really bonded and got to know one another. But Saturday night we were back on the courts full speed ahead.

We also had a very special guest Dave Hopla-Dave demonstrated his amazing ability to shoot-and showed us special techniques that even our youngest athletes could understand ( remember toe to target) Dave hit an unbelievable percentage of shots hitting about 300 and missing maybe 10 shots!! Dave Hopla has worked with many talented basketball stars one of them being Kobe Bryant, and we were honored to have Dave show us how hard work can really pay off!!! Dave did not learn to shoot properly until the age of 16!

Each night athletes and staff were found having pickup games on the outdoor courts- until 2-3 am!! What an amazing atmosphere, the kids just could not get enough basketball.

We cannot wait to have MVP 2012- and look forward to hearing great stories from all of our athletes-many of whom have already contacted us letting us know they made their teams!! Plans are already underway for next season to make MVP Basketball Camp 2012 better than ever.

Please check your emails and the Seneca Lake web site for dates and pricing for early bird specials for next season!

MVP wishes you and your families a successful season on and off the courts and we look forward to seeing you and your friends next year at MVP 2012.
